Jack Blog

So September 2019 has been an interesting month.  I found it necessary to give up my old server and upgrade to a newer server and cPanel for hosting my websites.  I really like the friendliness of the cPanel but it was way too hard to migrate the WP websites.  You can forget about simple FTP as it just did not work with database issues blah blah blah.  I had to rebuild entire websites, but so far, I am happy with the results.

Right now I am working on a song called “If I Shed a tear.”  Wrote the song years ago but have been working on the music for the past coupe of months and actually recording for about a month.  I am working with Greg Weinholt, and I guess I’d better tell him that I’m mentioning his name on the web. Any way, he is a great musician and plays multiple instruments.  He can also work some magic with that Apple computer of his.

I’ll give you a link to what I have been able to post to the Reverbnation site.  I have got to warn you that the song is scratchy.  Works for Neil Young but might be the ruin of me.  It is the hardest song to sing that I have ever written. Not emotionally, but actually hard to sing.

The link below does not include the additional instruments that had been added so I’ll have to do some follow-up in the future.

I wrote the song for my children who are grown and live many miles away.  Maybe you are a parent and you can pick up on whats going down here.

If I Shed a Tear

When you were born
I held you in my arms
And I knew love
Like never before

When you learned to walk
You came with arms held high
I picked you up
And I held you so tight

If I shed a tear
Every time I think of you
I could swim so far, so far away
In the stream I’d leave behind

When you were young
I watched you grow
As you shared your love
I saw your heart shine so bright

When the teenage years came
We lived like foes and fought so fast
As our different worlds
clashed with every word

If I shed a tear
Every time I think of you
I could swim so far, so far away
In the stream I’d leave behind

Now you are grown
And years have passed
There are many miles
Many miles between us

Yet I love you so
Just like years ago
When you first appeared
As a new born helpless child

If I shed a tear
Every time I think of you
I could swim so far, so far away
In the stream I’d leave behind
